was born in Heraklion (Crete/Greece) in 1974. Studies of the piano with G. Kaloutsis, O. Dressler and U. Mitrenga, and composition with W. Hiller and P. M. Hamel. Master classes with George Crumb, Luciano Berio, Wolfgang Rihm, Alexander Nasedkin and Rudolf Kehrer. Both as pianist and as composer Borboudakis has made his reputation: his compositions have been performed at numerous festivals such as Munich Biennale, the Musik im 20. Jahrhundert of the Saarländischer Rundfunk, the MDR Musiksommer, the world exhibition EXPO 2000 in Hannover, the Schwetzinger Festspiele, the Beethovenfest Bonn and during Gidon Kremers festival in Lockenhaus. As a pianist, Minas Borboudakis gave numerous concerts in Europe and Japan. He appeared with the the Bavarian chamber philharmonic, the Nürnberg symphony orchestra. Besides his own compositions is the repertoire of Minas Borboudakis concentrated on contemporary music. He received numerous scholarships and composition awards. His music is basically inspired by the ancient Greek philosophy, literature and mythology and is reflected in a synthesis which combines the elements of the ancient Greek music with contemporary methods. Today Minas Borboudakis lives in Munich, Germany.

Seine Musik ist inspiriert von antiken griechischen Themen aus den Bereichen der Philosophie, Literatur, Mythologie und kombiniert Elemente altgriechischer und neuer Musik. Er studierte Klavier bei G. Kaloutsis, O. Dressler und U. Mitrenga und Komposition bei W. Hiller und P. M. Hamel. Meisterklassen mit L. Berio, W. Rihm und G. Crumb. Sowohl als Pianist als auch als Komponist ist Minas Borboudakis ein vielgefragter Künstler, so zum Beispiel bei der Münchener Biennale, dem MDR Musiksommer, dem Festival Musik im 20. Jahrhundert des Saarländischen Rundfunks, der EXPO 2000, die Schwetzinger Festspiele, das Beethovenfest Bonn, dem internationalen Kammermusikfest Lockenhaus, dem young.euro.classic Berlin wie auch bei Gidon Kremers Festival les muséíques in Basel. Als Pianist konzertierte er mit der Bayerischen Kammerphilharmonie und den Nürnberger Symphonikern. Der Schwerpunkt seines Repertoires liegt neben der Interpretation eigener Kompositionen auf der Musik des 20. und 21. Jahrhunderts. Zahlreiche Auszeichnungen und Stipendien markieren seinen künstlerischen Weg. Minas Borboudakis lebt in München.
